exhaustive search across Europe
and New York, “I couldn’t find what I wanted
in a belt, so I’m designing my own.” Not pure
narcissism; metal-workers, leather craftsmen,
and artisans are found on all branches of the
family tree. So the devotion to fine workmanship
is as old-world as Italy. But there’s also a 21st century aspect
at work. Kale Miles is all about what people in the modern
universe of taste and style require. Hand-finished labors of

What do we mean when we say:
Wear a work of art? It’s actually
a three-part platform and philosophy.
Part one constitutes the design. And each design
has its own inspiration, be it an object, a place, or a
place in time. Each design is sketched, reworked,
and rethought to ascertain its place in the collection.
We not only concentrate on style, of course, but
accessible style. Part two is the materials we use
to carry out the design. In a word, the best. The
leathers come from the world’s oldest and finest tanneries,
slow-tanned and full-grain for a lifetime of wear. And, as
they wear, they acquire an exquisite patina. The metals are sterling silver, sculptor’s bronze, and platinum. Rare and beautiful, dense and rich. Not brass, or remotely brassy, but classic and refined. Part three? The hand-finishing. Belt straps are hand-stitched for a stronger hold.
